We all know a video call can put Tokyo, Toronto and Atlanta in the same “room” in mere seconds. Cellular and satellite phone service connects us to virtually anybody, anywhere in the world. And we’re all quickly learning that AI can draft a report before lunch.
So, here’s something to ponder: Why do millions of people still pack bags, endure long TSA lines, spend hours and hours in the air and many days away from loved ones to simply sit across a table from someone? Spend five minutes in an airport concourse people-watching and you’ll have your answer.

Last Sunday’s FIFA World Cup Final between Spain and defending champion Argentina, won by Spain 1-0 in extra time, was a beyond-comprehension medley of strategy, footwork, ball control, physical stamina, and patience. It was a showcase of what the great Pelé once called “the beautiful game” though some might argue England’s wild, 6-4 thriller over France a day earlier in the consolation match was the highlight of this World Cup. I say there was an even bigger highlight … and it didn’t even occur on the fútbol pitch itself.
